Exposure to stressful activities, air pollution, and other factors speed up skin aging. As a result, your skin is affected, losing its firmness and becomes dull. Facial skin is the most vulnerable of all skin types because of its natural sensitivity to anything it is exposed to.

However, this problem can be remedied. There are a lot of good current skincare products that are made to help in lessening or totally removing wrinkles and other signs of aging. These products are a big help especially among women who are very conscious of their look. With the skincare products, facial muscles can regain their firmness.

If you are afraid of cosmetic surgery, you have nothing to worry about. With recent technology, procedures are becoming less invasive. What’s more exciting is that you don’t actually need to undergo cosmetic surgery; facial exercise is the answer to combat signs of aging.

Facial exercise can do wonders. It not only improves facial blood circulation, but it actually makes the skin firm.

Most of us want to maintain our youthful looks, not a face with saggy eye bags. Eye bags are facial baggage we don’t want to carry. But with facial exercise, you say goodbye to them.

Compared to skincare products and cosmetic surgeries that are expensive, facial exercises provide long-term results. Add a healthy and balanced diet, plus regular physical and facial exercises, younger looking skin can be achieved easily. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and routine, is a simple step toward physical wellness.

Epicranius, which raises the eyebrows;
Occipitalis, which draws the scalp back; and
Galea aponeurotica, which joins the frontalis and the occipitalis.

The forehead lift prevents or reduces the frown lines between the eyebrows, and also raises the eyebrows. As well, it prevents or diminishes hooding of the upper eyelids.

Method:

While sitting or lying down, place the index fingers of both hands high on the forehead so that one of them is parallel to the top of each brow. Now pull the fingers down so that they are approximately a half inch above the brows. While the fingers are pressing down, concentrate on pushing the eyebrows up. Push the eyebrows up and release 10 times. Now hold the eyebrows in the up position, continuing to keep the fingers pressed down and do mini-eyebrow push-ups until you feel a tight band of pressure above the brows. Hold them up and count to 20. Release.

Frequency:

Two times a day and three times to correct a heavy or scowling brow.

Advanced:

While lying down, raise your head off the bed or floor a half inch each time you push up the eyebrows and release. Feel the band of pressure across your forehead. On the final push-up, raise your head a half inch and count to 20.

Method:

This exercise may be done sitting or lying down. Place an index finger at the outer corner of each eye, and your middle fingers at the inner eye corners. Squint strongly with your lower eyelids, thinking up. Feel your outer and inner eye muscles flex. Squint and release 10 times, keeping your upper eyelids open wide. Now hold the squint and think up, maintaining the strong squint with your lower eyelids as you count to 40, focusing on the outer and inner eye muscles flexing. Repeat the entire exercise.

Frequency:

Twice a day, and three times if you have excessive under eye puffiness.

Advanced:

While lying down, each time you squint and release, raise your head a half inch off the bed or floor. Hold the squint count for 20, then raise your head a half inch off the floor again and count another 20.

The eye enhancer exercises the orbicularis oculi muscle that surrounds the entire eye. One of the important muscles in the body, the orbicularis oculi opens and closes the eyes. This exercise pumps blood into the whole eye area and strengthens the upper and lower eyelids. It also reduces under eye puffiness, lifts under eye hollows and in effect enlarges the eye socket, giving you a more wide-awake, bright-eyed look.

Method:

Do this exercise lying down or in a sitting position. Place your middle finger between the brows, above the bridge of your nose. Place your index fingers at your outer eye corners. Make a strong squint up with the lower eyelid — feel the outer eye muscle pulse. Squint and release 10 times, focusing on the pulsing each time you squint. Now hold, squint and squeeze your eyes tightly shut while counting up to 40. Focus your mind on the outer eye muscle pulsing. Be sure to keep eyes squeezed shut very tight as you count.

Frequency:

Twice a day. Try three times a day to correct deep hollows or severe under eye puffiness, under eye droop or to enlarge the eye socket.

Tip:

In the morning, if your eyes are puffy and you haven’t had time to do your face exercises, do two eye enhancers and then apply your makeup. This will brighten your eyes considerably and remove the look of fatigue.

Advanced Method:

While lying down, each time you squint and release, lift your head off the bed or floor a half inch to make the muscle work harder. On the 10th squint, hold the squint and squeeze your eyes shut tight and count to 20. Then raise your head a half inch, continuing to keep your eyes shut tight and count another 20.

Purpose

The Cheek Developer exercises the buccinator muscle. This exercise also works the orbicular oris, which is the circular muscle surrounding the mouth. It lifts and enlarges the cheeks and removes hollows from under the eyes.

Method

While sitting or lying down, place an index finger on top of the Apple or rounded top part of each cheek. Open your mouth and pulled the upper and lower lips away from each other, forming a long, strong O shape. Hold the law and the O shape of the mouth firmly in place. Keep the upper lip pressing down against the teeth. Smile with your mouth corners and release. Repeat 35 times, filling the cheek muscles move under your index fingers. Use your mind muscle connection and visualize that you’re pushing the muscles up under the cheeks each time you smile. Your cheek muscles will really feel like they’re working as you exercise. And after doing the cheek developer, your face will feel energized.

Frequency: 2xs/day

Advanced: Lift your head off the floor a half inch each time you smile and flex your cheeks.

Face exercises can be done anywhere or anytime. As with any health and fitness program, it is essential to schedule face exercises into your daily life and establish the right routine from the very start. To obtain the best results, it’s a good idea to do each exercise twice a day — once in the morning and once at night. Good face exercise habits will help you re-contour and tone your face quickly.

One of the basic premises of face exercises is to focus on the muscle as you work it to the point where you feel a lactic acid burn. The fingers or fingertips are often placed on top of the muscles of the face to function as counterweights: the weight of the fingers provides resistance and helps maintain focus. This makes the muscles work harder and grow bigger and stronger as quickly as possible.

If you live long enough, you will find that your facial expressions can leave their imprint on your face. The repetition of smiling, frowning, and other facial expressions can lead to the creation of wrinkles and other aging factors. The good news is that there is a natural method to help combat this aging process.

Face Exercises are a free alternative to medical procedures designed to help strengthen the muscles underneath the skin. They help fight the natural signs of aging that can occur from years of facial expressions and using our face muscles. If you regularly perform face exercises, you can recapture your youthful image, without going through any painful injections or surgeries.

By working the right muscles with face exercises you are able to stimulate blood flow to those muscles, and also increase the amount of oxygen that the skin receives. When the skin receives more blood and oxygen, it can begin to produce more healthly skin cells, which help to reverse
the the signs of aging.

There is no equipment required for face exercises. Therefore, they can be done anywhere, any time. You can work them into your daily routine, or do some when you have a private spare moment. In as little as 10-15 minutes a day, you’ll experience remarkable results. Isn’t an improved appearance worth that amount of time and more?

To learn more about face exercises, pick up Carole Maggio’s Facercise book.

When you wake up one morning and realize that Father Time has left his calling card, it’s usually time to make a change. Whether in the form or wrinkles, lines, sags or other things, the signs of aging don’t have to leave you feeling blue.

Like exercising our bodies, we can also exercise our faces. Face exercises stimulate blood flow and circulation, relieve tension, and improve overall appearance of the face. As facial muscles loose firmness, the facial exercise helps in toning the facial muscles.

Beginning a facial exercise program to sculpt and contour the face may seem daunting at first because the movements and positioning feel somewhat awkward. But like learning to ride a bicycle, once you become familiar with the movements, you will marvel that such exercise can easily produce a younger looking face.

In hardly any time at all, you will notice how smooth and refreshed your skin looks; your face glows with radiance from increased oxygenation to the muscles and those sagging, droopy muscles are now portraying a more youthful looking you. Without surgery, drugs or anything harmful you can just tell Father Time to come back another time. And in the meantime, look at least 10-15 years younger.

Whereas plastic surgery deals with the symptoms of aging skin, face exercises deal with some of the causes. As we age, muscles flatten and elongate with lack of use and the pull of gravity. The bone, muscle and fat under the facial skin actually diminish while, at the same time, the skin loses its elasticity. Add the impact of sun exposure and environmental factors, we begin to see wrinkles. Wrinkles are also formed by habitual facial movements such as furrowing your brow and eye squinting.

Although plastic surgery can pull the skin tight across the face and lift it up, the elements that cause wrinkles still remain and ultimately prevail. In time, the same wrinkles present before surgery reappear to varying degrees.

Unlike plastic surgery, face exercises are risk-free and the results are predictably beneficial. By learning how to pump your facial muscles, you will nourish every cell in your face with life giving blood. Moreover, face exercises provide natural, long-term results that are much more appealing.

It is also worth noting that even the greatest surgeons can fail to deliver the results they promise with plastic surgery. Health, age and skin elasticity all influence how the face will respond. And in the most extreme of cases, death can result.

So instead of putting your destiny in the hands of a plastic surgeon, give face exercises a try. Face exercises empower you by giving you ultimate control over your face. Done consistently and properly, you will improve your appearance every week, every month and as the years go by.
